Brandon · Hillsborough County

Solar, solar repair and roofing in Brandon and Valrico.

Brandon, Valrico and the communities around them are unincorporated Hillsborough County, fifteen minutes from our Tampa office. It's a solar-heavy area with a lot of 2017 to 2022 systems now hitting their first inverter failures and first roof replacements. Fused services every brand, installs new solar and batteries, replaces roofs, and does the detach and reinstall when a roof goes on.

Part of our Hillsborough County service area.

Permits in Brandon

Who issues the permit, and who pulls it

Brandon and Valrico are unincorporated, so Hillsborough County Development Services (HillsGovHub) issues the permits. Roof-mounted solar is an electrical trade permit and the county requires signed-and-sealed plans from a Florida engineer covering roof load, wind load and roof access pathways. Electrical rough-in inspection is required for PV, live or virtual through VuSpex, scheduled by 11:59 PM for next day. Roof replacement is a separate re-roof permit with a progress inspection. Plant City has its own building division. We carry the engineering relationship, so the stamp is part of the quote.

Utility: TECO (Tampa Electric)

TECO serves all of Hillsborough County. Systems of 10 kW AC and under use TECO's Tier 1 interconnection with no application fee; TECO's approval can take up to 30 days after the passed inspection, then it sets the net meter. We file and track it.

Notice of CommencementRequired above $5,000 and recorded before the first inspection. We prepare it with the contract.
Why one license matters

When the roof leaks under the array, there's one number to call

In Florida, solar work needs an electrical or solar license and roof work needs a roofing license. Almost nobody holds both. Fused does, so when we replace a roof and reinstall the panels in Brandon, the roofing warranty and the 25-year no-leak guarantee on the attachments come from the same company.

Questions from Brandon homeowners

Brandon solar and roofing, answered plainly

My solar installer in Brandon went out of business. Can you service the system?

Yes. Fused is a service company first and works on any brand and any installer's system in Brandon, Valrico and Riverview. Flat $395 on-site diagnostic with a written report; manufacturer warranty parts handled for you.

Who pulls the solar permit for a home in Valrico?

Hillsborough County Development Services issues it as an electrical trade permit with engineer-sealed plans. Fused pulls it under electrical license EC13014750 and schedules the inspection.

Can you replace my roof and reinstall the solar in Brandon?

Yes. Fused holds roofing license CCC1331058 and electrical license EC13014750, so the roof and the detach and reinstall are one contract with both county permits pulled by us.

Can my Bloomingdale or FishHawk HOA stop me from installing solar?

No. Florida Statute 163.04 prohibits HOAs from banning solar and limits placement rules to ones that don't cut production by more than 10 percent. They can require an architectural application, which we prepare.
